1. Who we are
In short Leg Up connects runners and brands. We keep the money safe until the proof comes in.
The legup.run website is published by Leg Up, [FORME JURIDIQUE, CAPITAL, RCS, SIREN], with its registered office at [ADRESSE]. Publication director: [DIRECTEUR DE LA PUBLICATION].
Leg Up lets runners signed up for a race rent a part of their body to a brand, for the time of a temporary tattoo. Leg Up is a go-between: it is neither the race organiser nor the advertiser.
These terms apply to everyone who uses the site. The runner charter and the accepted brands page complete them. Brands also accept the terms of sale for brands. For your personal data, read the privacy policy.
2. Your account
In short Over 18, one account, true information.
- Leg Up is for adults only: you must be 18 or over to create an account.
- One account per person, with accurate information. Your password is yours alone.
- Your public profile shows your first name and the initial of your last name, your city, club, bio, photo, networks and gallery. Never your address, your date of birth or your sports profile.
- Your sports profile (sex, height, build, level) is optional and never public. It is only used by brands' filters.
- Your postal address is only visible to Leg Up and to the brands of the campaigns you commit to, so they can get your tattoos to you.
3. Races and campaigns
In short You set your price, the brand makes its offer, and the campaign takes off if enough runners sign up.
You sign up for a race from "My races" and set a price for each zone you rent out. A campaign is only offered to you if the pay offered by the brand is at least your price: that pay is what you get.
Before you commit, the offer shows the brand, the zone, the pay, the conditions to get paid and how the tattoos reach you (for example: pick-up at an address, on dates and at times set by the brand). Depending on the campaign, your place is confirmed straight away, or you apply and the brand has a few days to answer; with no answer, you are selected as long as places are left.
To commit, apply or join a waiting list, you accept the campaign contract by ticking a box. It is Leg Up's generic contract, filled in with the campaign's details: zone, pay, tattoo delivery, any post required, use of your photos. The brand may add special clauses: they are highlighted, the box says it is not the generic contract, and they can neither take away any of your rights nor contradict these terms. No ticked box, no place. Leg Up keeps the exact text you accepted, which you can read again from your offer.
Each campaign sets a maximum number of runners, a minimum to go ahead and a sign-up deadline, 15 days before the race by default. On that date:
- if the minimum is reached, the campaign is confirmed and every runner who signed up is told;
- otherwise, the campaign is cancelled, the runners who signed up are told and the brand is refunded.
A brand can set the minimum equal to the maximum ("all or nothing").
4. Waiting list
In short Campaign full? Join the waiting list if you like: you'll get 24 hours to accept a place that opens up.
- When a campaign is full, you can join its waiting list, if it is open. Nobody is put on it without asking.
- You can see your position. Being on the list holds nothing for you: you can commit elsewhere, and you leave the list automatically if you commit elsewhere for the same zone.
- When a place opens up, it is offered to the first person on the list. You have 24 hours to accept it, and never later than 3 days before the race. If you decline or don't answer, you leave the list and the place goes to the next runner.
- You can leave the list at any time, with no penalty. The brand or Leg Up can also close it.
5. Tattoos and health
In short Temporary, always. Allergic? Test before race day.
Leg Up only offers temporary tattoos, never permanent ones. They are made with inks that comply with European regulations [TO BE CHECKED]. If you have sensitive skin, try one on a small area a few days before the race. If it turns red or itchy, take the tattoo off and tell Leg Up.
Tattoos not received or damaged? Write to Leg Up from the "Leg Up" section of your account. On race day, follow the runner charter.
6. Proofs and payments
In short You send your proof, the brand approves it, you get paid. If it's rejected, Leg Up decides.
The brand pays for its campaign upfront. Leg Up holds that money, through its payment provider Stripe (Stripe Connect), until your proof is approved.
- To get paid, open your payout account: it is an account with Stripe, and you enter your IBAN with Stripe, not with Leg Up.
- After the race, you have 7 days to send your proof: a photo of the tattoo with your bib number readable, taken on race day, plus the link to your post if the campaign asks for one.
- The brand has 5 days to approve it or reject it with a reason. With no answer, the proof is approved automatically.
- After a rejection, you have 5 days to send another photo or dispute it with Leg Up, adding more photos. Leg Up decides and explains why. If you do nothing, the rejection becomes final.
- Once your proof is approved, your pay is sent to your payout account within [DELAY].
- If you don't start the race, drop out or send no proof, you are not paid and the brand is refunded.
These are the default deadlines: Leg Up can adjust them for a campaign, and your campaign's deadlines are shown in your offer.
The money you earn is income: each year, Leg Up sends the required information to the tax authorities.
7. Withdrawing
In short You can withdraw on your own up to 7 days before the race. After that, go through Leg Up.
You can withdraw freely from your offer up to 7 days before the race (Leg Up can adjust this for a campaign). After that, write to Leg Up from the "Leg Up" section of your account, reason "Last-minute withdrawal", with supporting evidence if you have any: it is optional.
Leg Up tells the brand and offers your place to the waiting list if the race is 3 or more days away. A justified withdrawal (injury, illness) is not penalised and does not count as a missing proof. Repeated withdrawals can still lead Leg Up to suspend your account, with a stated reason.
8. Campaign messages
In short One thread per campaign between the brand, its runners and Leg Up, open until 30 days after the race.
- Each campaign has its own message thread, bringing together the brand, the selected runners and Leg Up. If you withdraw or are removed from the campaign, you lose access to it.
- By default, you can read but not write: the brand decides whether runners can write. When they can, everyone in the campaign sees their messages.
- The thread stays open until 30 days after the race (Leg Up can adjust this for a campaign), then becomes read-only. Same if the campaign is cancelled.
- Leg Up can read and write in every thread.
9. Social networks and posts
In short A sponsored post always comes on top of a tattoo, never on its own.
- Under "My details › Networks", you can list your networks, your follower count and the extra fee you ask per post. This information appears on your public profile. Your follower count is not checked: it must be accurate.
- A brand can add a post to a tattoo, but never buy a post alone. The campaign is only offered to you if you agree to post on one of the networks it accepts, with enough followers and a fee no higher than the one offered.
- The post fee is added to your pay and paid with it, once your proof is approved.
- Your proof includes the link to your post, with the mention the brand asked for. The post must stay public at least until your proof is approved.
10. Training
In short Your runs feed brands' filters without being shown to them. On your profile, you decide.
- Under "My details › Training", you can connect Strava or import files of your runs. Only running activities count.
- The section is hidden on your public profile, unless you choose to show it.
- Campaign activity filters (for example "at least 3 runs in the last 30 days") always use it, without showing your runs to brands. With no known run, you don't pass any activity filter.
- Only import your own runs, unedited.
- Disconnecting Strava deletes the runs that came from Strava. You can also delete your imported runs.
11. Photos, gallery and image rights
In short Your photos stay yours. The brand can use those from its campaign for the period and on the media set in its contract.
- You keep ownership of the photos and texts you post. You allow Leg Up to display them on the site for as long as they are online.
- A photo from your gallery taken at a race where you wore a brand's tattoo (approved proof) also appears in that brand's campaign gallery, for as long as you keep it visible.
- By committing to a campaign, you allow the brand to use the photos from that race showing its tattoo, for the period (6 to 36 months from the race) and on the media it chose, as set in the campaign contract. What it has already posted on its social media may stay there afterwards.
- You can hide or delete a photo from your gallery at any time.
- Leg Up can remove a shocking or off-topic photo: it disappears from your profile and from brands' galleries. You can still see it, and delete it.
12. What is not allowed
In short No shocking photos, no cheating, no ghost proofs. Otherwise: a warning, a suspension or a block.
- Posting shocking, hateful or degrading photos or messages, or ones unrelated to the race.
- Sending a fake proof (bib, date, edited or borrowed photo) or false information (profile, followers, runs).
- Racking up no-shows, withdrawals or missing proofs.
- For a brand: fraud, rejecting proofs in bad faith, offering terms that go against the charter, or an excluded category.
A runner can report a campaign offered to them (for example a contract with unfair clauses), and a brand can report a runner from its campaigns. Anyone, even without an account, can report a runner's public profile: fake profile, nudity, shocking or inappropriate content. A reason is required, and the person reported doesn't know who reported them.
Leg Up can warn, suspend or block a runner, pause or stop a campaign, and block a brand. Every decision comes with a reason and is sent by notification and email. You can reply in the "Leg Up decision" conversation to dispute it, and Leg Up can lift the measure. While suspended, you keep access to your account and any amounts already approved are still owed to you.
13. Deleting your account
In short You can leave whenever you like, except in the middle of a campaign or with money pending.
- You can delete your account from "My account".
- You can't while you are committed to a campaign that isn't over, or while money is still to be paid out or refunded.
- Before you go, you can get a copy of your data with "Download my data".
- An account with no sign-in for 3 years is deleted after a warning email, unless a campaign is under way or money is still due.
What we keep after deletion, and for how long, is explained in the privacy policy.
14. Disputes and contact
In short A question or a disagreement? Write to us first: we'll look for a solution together.
A question about these terms? Read the FAQ, write to Leg Up from the "Leg Up" section of your account, or email bonjour@legup.run. Leg Up usually answers within 48 hours.
These terms are governed by French law. If we disagree, write to us first so we can look for an amicable solution. You can also turn, free of charge, to the consumer mediator [MEDIATOR: NAME AND CONTACT DETAILS], or go to the competent court.
These terms may change: the date of the last update and the version number are shown at the top of the page. [HOW USERS ARE INFORMED OF CHANGES].
