Runners
How much can I earn?
You set your price for each part of your body, and brands make their offers. For example: €15 for a calf at the Paris marathon, plus €5 if you agree to post a photo on your social accounts.
I signed up, but the campaign hasn't "taken off" yet. What does that mean?
The brand has set a minimum number of runners. Your place is booked, and the campaign is confirmed on its deadline (usually 15 days before the race) if the minimum is reached. Otherwise it is cancelled: we let you know, and you have nothing to do.
I got injured just before the race. What do I do?
Write to Leg Up from your account, reason "last-minute withdrawal", with a medical note if you have one. We tell the brand and offer your place to the waiting list. A justified withdrawal doesn't count against you. Get well soon.
The brand rejected my proof. Can I dispute it?
Yes. Write to Leg Up, reason "dispute a rejected payment", and add more photos (clear bib, sharp tattoo, finish-line photo). Leg Up looks at both sides and decides.
Is my address visible on my profile?
Never. Only Leg Up and the brands of the campaigns you commit to can see it, to send you your tattoos.
What is the campaign contract?
Before you commit, you tick a box to accept the campaign contract: what you commit to (starting the race, wearing the tattoo, sending your proof), what the brand owes you, and what it can do with your race photos, for how long and on which media. It is Leg Up's generic contract, filled in with the campaign's details. If the brand added clauses, they are highlighted and the box says so. You can read it again at any time from your offer.
Brands
How does the minimum to go ahead work?
You set a maximum (for example 1,000 runners) and a minimum (for example 500). On the sign-up deadline, the campaign is confirmed if 500 or more runners have signed up, and cancelled otherwise. Runners are told either way, and you are refunded if it is cancelled.
I want exactly 500 runners, not one more. Is that possible?
Yes: turn on "all or nothing" and the minimum becomes equal to the maximum.
When is the sign-up deadline?
You choose it. By default it is set 15 days before the race: enough time to confirm the runners, print the tattoos and send them out.
Can I talk to Leg Up about one of my campaigns?
Of course. From your dashboard, write to Leg Up about anything, or about a specific campaign. Leg Up can also write to you, for example to help you reach your minimum.
Can I adapt the contract offered to runners?
Yes, to some extent. When you create the campaign, you choose how long the photos may be used (6 to 36 months) and on which media (social media, website, print, paid advertising), and you can add special clauses. They add to Leg Up's generic contract without contradicting it, and runners see that it is no longer the generic contract.
Tattoos
Does it wash off?
It survives the race, the sweat and the shower afterwards. To remove it: a little oil or rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad, then soap. Nothing left, promise.
What if I have sensitive skin or allergies?
The inks comply with European regulations. Try one on a small area a few days before the race, and don't apply the tattoo on irritated skin.
My tattoos haven't arrived.
Write to Leg Up, reason "tattoos not received or damaged". If the race is close, we'll offer to hand them to you at the start.
A tattoo on the forehead, really?
Only if you offered it. It's the spot photographers see the most, and the hardest one to hide at the office on Monday.
Payments
When do I get paid?
Within [NB] days after your proof is approved. If the brand doesn't answer within [NB] days, your proof is approved automatically.
Do I have to declare what I earn?
Yes, it is income. Leg Up sends you a yearly summary and passes the required information on to the tax authorities.
Account
Why can an account be blocked?
Shocking photos, a fake proof, repeatedly missing proofs, breaking the terms of use. Leg Up sends a warning first whenever possible. Every decision is explained by email and can be disputed.
I came across a fake profile. What do I do?
An account made for a dog, an inappropriate photo, someone pretending to be someone else? At the bottom of every runner's profile, the "Report this profile" link lets you tell Leg Up, even without an account: a reason, and a comment if you like. The runner doesn't know who reported them.
Why chickens?
"Chicken legs" is what people call the skinny calves many runners have. We love them just the way they are, and so do brands.
