Rent your calf, pay back your bib: Leg Up explained to runners

Months of training, a race entry, shoes, and energy gels in a vaguely strawberry flavour. What if, for once, your calf picked up the bill?

The Leg Up team also available in Français

In short You rent a zone of your body to a brand for one race, wear its temporary tattoo, send a photo with your bib, and get paid.

Your calf lives a double life

On race day, your right calf runs past spectators, photographers, volunteers, phone cameras and at least one uncle shouting "nearly there!" at mile 5 of a marathon. It has a very public life. It earns nothing for it.

Meanwhile, running costs money: the bib, the shoes, the "technical" socks, the train to a race on the other side of the country, the pasta party. Your calf works hard. It is time it brought some money home.

That is the idea behind Leg Up.

What is Leg Up?

Leg Up connects runners who are entered in a race with brands. You offer one or more zones of your body (one calf, both, a forearm, a shoulder, even your forehead if you are brave), each with your own price. A brand books you. On race day, you wear its temporary tattoo. After the race, you send your proof and you get paid.

That's it. No subscription, no neon kit, no slogan to shout at mile 15. A tattoo, a photo, a bank transfer.

How it works, in four steps

1. Add your race

In "My races", pick the event, your distance, your bib number and your target time (no judgement, promise). Then list the zones you rent out, each with a price from €5 to €1,000.

Yes, €1,000. We like ambition. A small tip though: a €15 calf finds a sponsor faster than a €1,000 one, however well-shaped.

2. Receive offers

When a brand launches a campaign on your race and your profile matches, you get its offer: the zone, the pay, the number of places, the deadline and, above all, how you get the tattoos (posted to your home, or collected at an address with opening hours). You know before you say yes.

Depending on the campaign, either the first runners to commit are in (first come, first served, like at the aid station), or you apply and the brand chooses. If the brand does not answer in time, your application is accepted automatically, within the number of places. Campaign already full? Join the waitlist: if a place frees up, it is offered to you and you have 24 hours to accept. And you can always turn an offer down, no reason needed.

3. The campaign takes off (or not)

Every campaign has a minimum number of runners. At its deadline, usually 15 days before the race, either the minimum is reached and the campaign is confirmed, or it is not and the campaign is cancelled. You are told either way, and you have nothing to do.

4. Run, prove, get paid

On race morning, apply the tattoo to clean, dry skin. After the finish line (before the shower, ideally), take a photo of the tattoo with your bib clearly readable, and send it from your account within 7 days of the race.

The brand checks your proof. If it does not answer within 5 days, your proof is validated automatically, and your pay goes to your payout account. Your calf just earned its first salary.

Let's talk money

  • The brand pays upfront, and Leg Up holds the money until the race.
  • Your price is your price: Leg Up's fees are paid by the brand, on top of your pay. You keep 100% of it.
  • You are paid by bank transfer once your proof is validated. Your bank details are entered with our payment provider, not with us.
  • If you do not start or do not finish, you are not paid and the brand gets your place refunded. No miles, no paid calf.
  • What you earn is income, to be declared where you pay tax.

"What if I get injured the day before?"

It happens. Up to a week before the race, you withdraw freely from your account. After that, write to Leg Up with the "last-minute withdrawal" reason. No penalty: your place goes to the waitlist or the brand is refunded. You look after yourself.

What stays private

  • Your public profile shows your first name, the initial of your surname, your city, your club and your bio. Never your address or your date of birth.
  • Your postal address is only visible to Leg Up and to the brands of campaigns you join, to send your tattoos.
  • Your sports profile (sex, height, build, level) is optional, used by brand filters and never displayed.
  • You choose which brand categories you refuse. And there is no alcohol, tobacco or betting on Leg Up anyway.

In short

You already run. Your calves already work. Leg Up just finds them an employer for the day.

Every mile counts. Now every calf too.

The Leg Up team Sunday runners (and Thursday-night ones) who decided their calves deserved a salary. We write Le Ravito between two long runs.
